Armed Forces Day was this past Saturday. Even though the Annual Presidential Proclamation was issued, you will not come across any mention of it on Obama’s Twitter news feed.

Instead of the Presidential Proclamation, you will come across the recognition of “The International Day Against Homophobia or Transphobia”. It is labeled with the hashtag #IDAHOT.

Armed Forces Day was created under President Harry Truman in 1949. It acknowledges and celebrates all the branches of the USA military. Those who took time to recognize the occasion were USA Senator Ted Cruz, Republican from Texas and USA Darrell Issa, Republican from California, who tweeted:

This Armed Forces Day and every other day, we are extremely grateful for the military service of the men & women who wear our uniform:

Senator Ted Cruz: Honoring the men and women who served on Armed Forces Day
