Bathmate Sizes Guide

Bathmate sizing is not always simple, and it leads to lots of guys buying the wrong model. To get the most out of your penile enlargement pump, it is essential to choose the best size for you.

Also, read the full Bathmate and Hydromax review that includes: usage tips, model overviews, comparisons, customer reviews, and health benefits from pumping.

Before continuing, note that the below guide is based on pumps purchased from the Official Manufacturer. If you are buying from a reseller, the sizing may be different.

Initially, we recommend that you learn how to properly measure your penis.

Bathmate-Hydro-Pumps-Size-Guide

This official sizing guide above used more conservative measurements.

The manufacturer’s maximum growth specifications indicated here is the maximum penis size that will fully fit the tube. The manufacturer came up with these numbers by subtracting roughly 1 to 1.5 inches from the pump’s internal dimension to compensate for suction-seal action. If your size already reached the upper limits of a particular pump, it is a sign that you have outgrown it, and that you need to move to the next model.

The recommendations columns will correlate your current penis dimensions with a suitable pump. To arrive at these recommended sizes, we subtracted around 1 to 2 inches from the pump’s maximum growth specs to compensate penis growth.

Those dimensions are based on pumps purchased from the official Bathmate manufacturer’s website.

The guide below is slightly more updated to include the 5 Series and Wide Boy models. Its measurements are closer to our tests and recommendations:

Bathmate Sizing Guide with New Model Names

Buying a pump that is too Large or too Small

Do not just buy the biggest pump as it is not a wise choice.

  • If you buy a pump that is too large for your girth, the pump won’t plug quickly and it will suck up your scrotum and will give you sore balls.
  • If you buy a pump that is too small for your girth, you will feel some discomfort as your penis’ head will rub on the inner sides of the tube.
  • If you buy a pump that is too large for your length, it should not cause problems as long as the pump’s girth closely fits your base girth to get a nice plug.
  • If you buy a pump that is too small for your length, you will be wasting your money as you won’t have ample room to grow.

Upgrading to a Bigger Pump

For your penis to reach the maximum growth allowed by the pump, it will take around two years of constant penile workout with proper routines and jelqing exercises.

Girth growth is more limited than length growth — once you gained 1-1.5 inches of additional girth, expansion in this area becomes harder. If your penis has reached the maximum girth but still has 1-2 inches allowance for length, it’s not urgent to change pump if you want to focus solely on gaining a longer penis.

If you reached either the maximum girth or the maximum length (or both), it is time then to move on to the next model if you want to grow simultaneously in both aspects. Refer to the table again to confirm if you have exceeded the maximum growth specs or if one of our recommendations matches your new dimensions.

Takeaway

You’ll be using your pump for a quite a while so use the sizing chart and other information provided here to choose wisely the most fitting model.

The x30 should be fine in your case. If you are an easy gainer, you may reach the tip of the pump after a year. So it depends on the person to be honest. If you are considering Penomet, the standard size is perfect for you.

What’s the perfect pressure for gaining? I read you shouldn’t pump beyond your erect length. It probably depends on whether you enter erect or not. So if your erect length is 6 inches you shouldn’t go over it inside the Hydromax, otherwise you will probably get edema and won’t stretch the tunica correctly.

Lucas Owenby says August 23, 2019

You should always push your pumping a bit beyond your current size. That is the whole point. If you feel soar or any other negative side effects on the next day, so take a break.

I jelq for 10 minutes, then I do 3 sets of pumping (>80% erection level) for 6 minutes each set. I find that I reach longer measurements only in later sets. And I tend to lose some suction after a few minutes (I don’t use the comfort ring). Do you suggest a single set of 20 minutes is more efficient instead?

Lucas Owenby says October 2, 2018

Is your penis currently rubbing uncomfortably against the side of the pump? If not, there is no reason to upgrade.

The valve should be released when you want to let the pressure out and pump again.

Last question. So when I saw the review, your girth was around mine. So did you just buy the x40? Because you were planning on using it for a couple years and you grew into it.

          Reply
Lucas Owenby says October 3, 2018

Buying a larger pump is not bad. It may just make it a bit harder to catch the right suction. But you can definitely go with the X40 if you think you will be pumping intensely for several years and will exceed the growth specs sooner.

Reply

No. You are well within the “Recommended Current Size”. The Wide Boy will just make it more difficult to get better suction.

I received a xx30 as a present a couple of months ago and I have been using it for two weeks now. My size is 6.7 inch in length with a circumference girth of 5.9 inch. At times, I get the feeling that the pump is too fit girthwise, fact which is confirmed by the comments on this website. I’m planning to train with my current model for three months and upgrade afterwards. Is the x40 model the right choice?

Reply
Lucas Owenby says September 10, 2018

Yes, the X40 would fit you better.

However, since you already have the X30, I would suggest you use lube to lessen the rubbing effect of the side of the pump on your penis.

Bobby B says September 8, 2018

When I’m using the x30 with a 90-100% erection, I can only get 1 full pump out of it. Every other pump has minimal water ejection as if I’m at maximum pressure. I have to do multiple kegels and do a few short pumps to get any noticeable expansion. After an 18 minute routine my penis is redder, heavier, and has a puffy, tip, but the temporary gains in length and girth only measure about a .10 of an inch for both. Is this normal? Should I upgrade to the x40?

For reference, my measurements are : EL 7.1 BPEL 7.5 EG 5.0
I’m a newbie to PE and am in my first 3 months using Bathmate; my 1st month using it with a full erection.

Lucas Owenby says September 8, 2018

Whether or not upgrading to the X40, you should see visibly if your penis is hitting the end of the pump. With your measurements, the X30 should be fine.

And yes, this is normal. When you reach the maximum pressure, hold it for a few minutes.

I have a curved penis, that, when straightened, is 7.8 BPEL and 4.8 EG. My un-straightened BPEL is ~7″. I am wondering if I should use the Hercules or the X30 because my curve reduces my overall length to fit within the Hercules/X30 range, but when straightened, my erect size fits within the X40 range. Since my EG measurement is much more compatible with the X30/Hercules, I think that I would rather go this route all other things being equal because I’ve heard of some difficulty in using the X40, e.g., balls getting sucked and it just being too large of a size to get good results. Any advice?

Reply
Lucas Owenby says July 1, 2018

To be honest, I am not exactly sure whether a curved penis will be able to fit into the pump. But then again, I don’t know how curved your penis is…

Take a note that the pump is 100% straight. And I heard that even guys with a straight penis sometimes complain that it is uncomfortable when the tip rubs against the side of the cylinder when pumping.

      Harold says July 1, 2018

I guess I don’t know if the Bathmate makes your penis erect when pumped? Any comment?
If so, then my pronounced curve might not fit into the Hercules. If it were to just pull the penis like in measuring BPEL, I think I could be ok with the the Hercules.

      Reply
Lucas Owenby says July 3, 2018

This may be extreme, but when you said ‘curved’, the first thing that came to my mind was Peyronie’s condition (look up some images).

Bathmate may make your penis erect at times. Sometimes, it would stretch it when flaccid.

If you are worried about your penis not fitting due to the curvature – get some lube and a slightly larger pump than your girth.

I would also suggest you to contact Bathmate directly with your question.

        1. How many gains you got? Even half an inch is a fair start and I wouldn’t call it ‘nothing’.
        2. Does the pump hold pressure well? Do you feel stress on your penis when pumping?

        4. Try some more basic penis exercises aside from jelqing.

It comes down to what your final goals are – would you be happy with getting a length of 7.5″ and maintaining it? Then choose the X30. If you plan to keep pumping hard for several years and go over 7.5″ – get the X40.

Why the color of my man starts changing to dark red after I start using X30??

When you are using pump pressure with restriction on ANY part of the body, it will temporarily darken the skin as it is getting more blood flow. Having a darker penis means that you are actively training. The color will lighten up when you take a break from PE.

How long should I take break for?
      Am I pumping too hard?

I would say – after 3 days break – your penis color should return to normal.
And no, you are not pumping too hard. It is perfectly fine and you can keep training at this rate.

What about the little pain in the balls while pumping. Is it normal?

Is that because your testicles get sucked into the pump? That is common. Try to warm your testicles up a bit before pumping, and attach the pump a bit higher.

          Now I’m taking 1 day/week as a break.
With 20 mints maximum pumping, I’m not getting any gain anymore.
I have to pump for 30 mints to see gains.
          Is that ok??

You are pumping 6 times per week for 30 minutes? That is a bit too excessive…
Measure your gains once per month, not after every session.

And yes, there are plateaus along the way, just like with any long journey you may go through (whether it is weight lifting, weight loss, or even learning a new language).

6 time per week for 30 mints may seem to you a bit too excessive…
But before, I used to pump for 20 mints, and I was able to see a clear, immediate gain in girth and length even though it’s not permanent.
But now with the excessive pumping, I’m not able to see any immediate gain.
          Why is that??

Beginners see gains faster than intermediate users. Your first inch is the easiest.

I’ve been using x30 for more than 3 months but am not getting any length grow, only get girth increase for 3 to 6 hours, then get back to normal.

I would say that you should take more than 1 day per week break. I feel like your penis has reach the short-term maximum growth. Your skin tissue is not infinitely expandable. You have to give it more time to get more expansion.

Hi, I’m a typical asian looking at X20. However, my circumference girth is 13cm, will X20 be too tight?

In your case – I would suggest you get the X30.

Note that there are no big discomforts when using a slightly larger pump than you need. Penomet (for example) is manufactured in only one size – which is similar to the X50.

With your estimation, the X20 will likely cause discomfort?

At the very beginning – probably not. But after 3 months of use as you are getting bigger – it would get uncomfortable.

For beginners, will it be better to follow your beginner schedule with resting or to pump everyday for 6 weeks?

3 months is still a short amount of time to assess gains. I would also recommend that you do some jelqing – this exercises helps length really well. Jelq for a few minutes before and after pumping.

What would be the time expected to see length gains?
I do jelqing as well, but not in between. So should I do them in between??

I would say, measure your size after every month of PE exercises. You should see noticeable gains after 6 months.

“In between” – you mean in between pumping sessions? That is optional. I would suggest you do jelqing before and after pumping.

Is it better to do the pumping with an erection?
What is a good timing for pumping? Is it 20 minutes or 30 minutes?

It is good to alternate between pumping erect and flaccid as we mentioned in our guide. Erect pumping is better for girth gains, while flaccid pumping is better for length.
You should pump for up to 20 minutes per day.

I’m in between the 20x and the 30x. I have a circumference girth of 4 inches and a 1/4 when erect and a length of 5.5-6 inches which would be towards the 30x. Which would be the right choice? Would the 30x fit?

Yes, the x30 pump will fit perfectly, and will provide room for growth. The x20 would be a bit tight to begin with.
