How to use the Bathmate Pump

If you just bought a Bathmate hydropump, I know you’re very excited to use it right now.

But wait! Let’s first discuss how to use it properly.

For a complete overview of the pump: read our review.

Getting Started

Before following the steps below, you might want to measure your penis length and girth and see later if you get instant results.

  1. Warming Up

The best practice is to warm yourself up. You can use a variety of methods to warm up your penis, but it’s most common to be in a bathtub or shower. Don’t get it too hot or you’ll kill your sperm! I’d suggest that the maximum temperature would be 35°C (95°F). Warm up for 5 to 10 minutes.

  1. Filling the Bathmate with Warm Water

Get the pump now and fill it with warm water. While doing it, press the pressure valve until it is filled up.

  1. Inserting your Penis in the Bathmate

You already know how to do this, but just make sure that it touches your skin tightly. Your penis can be erect or not, it doesn’t matter.

  1. Pumping the Bathmate

The next thing is to push it towards you. You’ll notice that water will go out the pressure valve thus creating a vacuum inside. If you inserted your penis not erected, it will become erect now because blood is drawn into your penis.

  1. Keeping the Bathmate on

Now all you have to do is to hold it and wait for a maximum of 20 minutes. If you’re a beginner, just go for around 10 to 15 minutes. Again, do NOT exceed 20 minutes or you might get injuries!

  1. Removing the Bathmate

Now that you’re finished, safely remove the pump by pinching the pressure valve to release the pressure.

Note: There is a latch on top of the valve. Moving the latch releases all of the water. Compressing the valve releases less water.

  1. Measure

Get the measuring gauge now and see if there are any changes with the length and girth. You may not see any changes right now, but just keep using it for weeks, months, or even years! Read our full guide on how to measure your penis correctly.

Pump Types

As of this date, there are three Bathmate series:

Original SeriesX-SeriesXtreme
Hercules (<= 7 in.)Hydromax X20 (<= 5 in.)Hydromax X20 Xtreme (<= 5 in.)
 Hydromax X30 (5-7 in.)Hydromax X30 Xtreme (5-7 in.)
 Hydromax X40 (7-9 in.)Hydromax X40 Xtreme (7-9 in.)
 Hydromax X50 Xtreme (> 9 in.)

Each model corresponds to penis size (see our sizing guide). To get the best results, make sure that you buy the correct size for you. Having the wrong size will not get you much benefit and you will only waste your time.

Despite the different sizes, the usage is similar across all the pumps. The Xtreme series however, has the external hand pump to adjust pressure. It is fairly easy to use – and difficult to explain, so we are going to leave that part up to you to figure out (or watch our video further down below).

What’s Next?

Congratulations! You’ve just had your first successful session of using Bathmate. It’s not complicated to use, is it? By the way, you may think of using the hydropump without water. Well, you can. However, there’s really no point in doing that because we all want to get the best results in a much shorter time, don’t we?

Just follow the instructions and I guarantee that you are using it effectively. Additionally, follow one of the beginner routines that we posted. If you already feel uncomfortable or if you feel pain, take time to recover for a few days.

To get more effective results, perform some penis exercises before using Bathmate. I’d suggest doing some jelqing for about 5 to 10 minutes. Once you are already used to it, you can explore other penis exercises.

Have fun pumping!

I have been researching for a while. Trying to decide to make the leap or not. I saw your post was recent. How’s it coming along? What was your first pump like? did you get anything girth or length wise that you could use during sex?

I’m not really interested in long term. But if I can get some girth that lasted an hour or so for a roll in the hay I’d be happy.

For balance, as a newbie, I don’t find it anywhere near as easy and straightforward as you describe. I have no trouble getting good erections normally, but with my Hydromax x30 I don’t get anywhere close, quite the opposite in fact.

For one thing, I find the sensation so unpleasant that I can’t get anywhere near fully compressing the bellows which makes my OK sized dick look smaller than it is as being flaccid not much of it is visible. I find that intimidating and not at all encouraging. I’ve only used it twice for 5-minute newbie sessions, but it’s not comfortable for longer yet. I will persevere but so far not at all what I was expecting.

For complete newbies, yes, pumping can feel a bit off and tension-building. Give it a few more sessions – don’t rush, stress, or over-pump. Relaxation is important for muscle tissue expansion, and you will soon learn to love it.

Thanks for the encouragement. The last two times have been better. I find it helps to go in about 80% hard.
